My influences are dada, pop art, surrealism, simplicity, and chance. Some paintings are safe, unthreatening souvenirs. They cover bare walls and remind us of people we like or places we’ve been (or want to be). I hope for my paintings to command their own place in the world and inspire unconventional thinking inside of the viewer.

Coordinating with furniture is not on my painting checklist. My intention is to use unexpected images that help make our environment and our thinking less conventional and predictable. In my opinion art (or any) philosophy is out of whack when a sofa tells artwork what to do.
